Twitter is a social networking and microblogging service that allows you to communicate to numerous people with short messages (140 characters or less) called Tweets. It is microsharing with people you are connected to. You can receive periodic Tweets from Trinity Church (including a question each day connected to our One-Year Bible reading plan) by following the steps below to signup for a Twitter account. If you are already a Twitter user, search for us by username "trinityomaha" to begin following us. 

Creating a New Twitter Account:

1. Go to http://twitter.com/

2. Click the "Sign Up Now" button.

3. Fill in the form (full name, usernam, password, etc) and click on "Create My Account." Write the username and password down to
    use when you login each time. 

4. Skip the "See if your friends are on Twitter" by selecting the "Skip This Step"  button at the bottom of the page.

5. A "Look who else is here" page appears. Deselect the "Select All" button button at the top of the list of people. Select the "Finish"
    button at the bottom. Not doing this will add all of these to your account.

Following Someone (like Trinity Church):

1.  Select the "Find People" link at the top of the page.

2. If you know their Twitter name (ie: trinityomaha), type it in the "Find it One Twitter" tab and select "Search." 

   (You can also search by first or last name, business or brand.)

3. When you find a user you want to follow, select the "add" button by their username to add to list of those you follow. 

4. Whenever this person Tweets (uploads a message), it will appear on your Twitter account. 

If You Prefer to Receive Tweets Via Text on Your Cell Phone:

1. Text the word START from your cell phone to 40404.

2. When you receive a text response, REPLY and text your Twitter password that you created for you account in a the set-up process. 

3. When you receive a response that your password is confirmed, REPLY and text the word OK. 

4. To receive tweets on your cell phone from someone you want to follow (ie. trinityomaha), send a text to 40404 that reads, "ON" and "USERNAME" of someone you want to follow. (Example: ON trinityomaha)

5. To stop receiving Tweets from someone, send a text to 40404 that reads, "OFF" and "USERNAME." (Example: OFF trinityomaha). 

You can also manage text responses on www.twitter.com when you are loggedin. Select the person you are following whose tweets you receive via text. On the "Following" button, select the small cell phoe icon. Clicking it will turn it green and turn on the texting feature. Click again to turn off the texting feature. 

To post your own tweets via text, text a message to 40404.
